The Monkees were an American pop-rock quartet formed in 1965 in the United States. The original lineup included Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and Davy Jones. Initially created for the sitcom "The Monkees" (1966–1968), the group quickly gained fame for their music, which was overseen by producer Don Kirshner. Their hits include "I'm a Believer" and "Last Train to Clarksville." The band disbanded in 1970 but reunited multiple times in the following decades. Their blend of pop and rock left a lasting impact on the genre, bridging television and music in a unique way.
