Often referred to as the "King of Disco" in San Francisco, he was celebrated for his androgynous style, falsetto voice, and energetic performances. His most notable hits include "You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)" and "Dance (Disco Heat)", which became anthems of the late 1970s disco era. A key figure in the LGBTQ+ community, he received a symbolic "key to the city" from the "Mayor of Castro Street." Sylvester remains a significant influence in the disco genre.
