
Странные Игры (Strannie Igry) was a Soviet ska band from Leningrad, founded in 1979. The band is considered a pioneer of ska-punk in the USSR and was a member of the legendary Leningrad Rock Club. The band released two albums and existed until 1985. In 1986, Странные Игры were smuggled to the United States by Joanna Stingray and released on the compilation album "Red Wave" which introduced the West to the Soviet rock underground. The band was distinguished by a vibrant stage image and its use of lyrics by 20th-century European poets. Странные Игры influenced such Russian bands as "АукцЫон" , "Мумий Тролль" , and "Ленинград" , leaving a significant mark on Russian rock culture.
