Метаморфозы - Странные игры

В потёмках Истории,

в сумраке ночи

иду я на ощупь,

всему удивляюсь,

иду спотыкаюсь,

и странно мне очень.

Я шляпу беру —

оказалась лягушка.

Жену обнимаю —

а это подушка.

Погладил кота —

оказался утюг.

Окно открываю —

и чувствую вдруг,

что сырость чулана

в лицо мне струится.

Я за чернильницу

принял мокрицу,

почтовый ящик —

за мусорный ящик,

свисток паровоза —

за птичьи трели,

гудок машины —

за умное слово,

плач принял за смех,

тьму принял за свет,

смерть принял за жизнь,

а себя — за другого.

In the darkness of history,

in the dusk of the night

I go to feel

I'm surprised at everything

I go stumbling

and very strange to me.

I take a hat -

turned out to be a frog.

I hug my wife

and this is a pillow.

Stroked the cat

turned out to be an iron.

I open the window -

and suddenly I feel

that the dampness of the closet

flows into my face.

I am for ink

took the weed

mailbox -

for the trash bin

locomotive whistle -

for bird trills,

car horn -

for a clever word

mistook crying for laughter,

took darkness for light,

took death for life,

and yourself for another.
