Sergio Mendes is a Brazilian pianist born in 1941, known for blending bossa nova with jazz and funk. Over a career spanning more than 45 years, he has released 35 studio albums. Achieving significant success in the 1960s, Mendes revived global interest in his music in 2006 with a collaboration with The Black Eyed Peas on a cover of Jorge Ben Jor's 1963 song "Mas Que Nada"—a track he had originally popularized in 1966.
