Kool Keith (real name Keith Thornton) is an American rapper and record producer from the Bronx, New York City, born in 1963. He is known for his surreal, abstract, and often provocative lyrics. Kool Keith began his career as part of the group Ultramagnetic MCs and later released numerous solo albums, including "Dr. Octagonecologyst" which became a cult classic in underground hip-hop. His work spans genres such as rap, hip-hop, and drum and bass. Kool Keith is considered one of the most eccentric figures in hip-hop, having had a significant influence on the genre's development.
