
Joe Sample was an American jazz keyboardist and composer born in 1939 in the United States. He co-founded The Jazz Crusaders in 1960, which later shortened its name to The Crusaders in 1971. Joe Sample remained with the group until their final album in 1991 and contributed to the 2003 reunion album Rural Renewal . In addition to his work with the group, he released several solo albums, including "Rainbow Seeker" and "Carmel" . His contributions to the development of jazz fusion made him one of the genre's key musicians.
