Jason Newsted (full name: Джейсон Кёртис Ньюстед ) is an American rock musician, born March 4, 1963. He is best known as the third bassist for the legendary band Metallica , where he played from 1986 to 2001. As part of the band, he participated in the recording of such iconic albums as "...And Justice for All" , "Metallica" (also known as "The Black Album" ) and "Load" . After leaving Metallica he founded his own projects, including the band Newsted . In addition to music, Jason is also known as an artist. His contribution to the development of hard rock and metal remains significant.
