Heems , real name Himanshu Suri , is an American rapper from Queens, New York, born in 1985. He is best known as a member of the alternative hip hop group Das Racist . In 2012, he released his first solo mixtape "Nehru Jackets" on his own independent label Greedhead Music . In addition to his music career, Heems is actively involved in social activism through the organization SEVA NY . In 2015, he announced a partnership with Fox to develop a sitcom based on his life. He is currently part of the group Swet Shop Boys , working with Riz MC and Redinho . Heems has made significant contributions to the development of alternative hip hop.
