
Earl Scruggs (1924–2012) was an American musician known for his contributions to the genres of country, R&B, and jazz. He became legendary for perfecting and popularizing the three-finger banjo style, known as the "Scruggs style." This style became a defining feature of bluegrass music. Earl Scruggs gained widespread attention when he joined The Blue Grass Boys led by Bill Monroe .
