Blood Orange, born on December 23, 1985, is an English R&B artist, songwriter, producer, and director based in New York City. From 2004 to 2006, Blood Orange, whose real name is Devonté Hynes, was a member of the band Test Icicles, contributing as a guitarist, synthesizer player, and occasional vocalist. The group released one full-length album in 2005. Hynes later pursued a solo career, releasing two albums under the name Lightspeed Champion before adopting the moniker Blood Orange. Between 2008 and 2019, he released five studio albums, showcasing his unique blend of R&B and alternative influences. His work has significantly shaped the modern R&B genre.
