Akina Nakamori is a Japanese singer and actress born on July 13, 1965. She is one of the most popular and best-selling artists in Japan. Накамори gained national recognition after winning the talent show Star Tanjō! in 1981. Her debut single "Slow Motion" peaked at number 30 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart , but her real success came with "Shōjo A" which peaked at number 5 and sold over 390,000 copies. Her second album, "Variation" became her first number one on the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart. Накамори has made a significant contribution to the development of the J-pop genre.
