Полководец с шеею короткой

Должен быть в любые времена:

Чтобы грудь — почти от подбородка,

От затылка — сразу чтоб спина.

На короткой незаметной шее

Голове уютнее сидеть, —

И душить значительно труднее,

И арканом не за что задеть.

А они вытягивают шеи

И встают на кончики носков:

Чтобы видеть дальше и вернее —

Нужно посмотреть поверх голов.

Все, теперь ты — темная лошадка,

Даже если видел свет вдали, —

Поза — неустойчива и шатка,

И открыта шея для петли.

И любая подлая ехидна

Сосчитает позвонки на ней, —

Дальше видно, но — недальновидно

Жить с открытой шеей меж людей.

…Вот какую притчу о Востоке

Рассказал мне старый аксакал.

«Даже сказки здесь — и те жестоки», —

Думал я — и шею измерял.

Commander with a short neck

Must be at any time:

On a short inconspicuous neck

The head is more comfortable to sit, -

And it's much harder to choke

And there is nothing to hit with a lasso.

And they stretch their necks

And stand on the tips of their socks:

To see further and more truly -

We need to look over our heads.

Everything, now you are a dark horse,

Even if I saw a light in the distance,

Posture is unstable and shaky,

And the neck is open for the loop.

And any vile echidna

Counts the vertebrae on it, -

Further visible, but short-sighted

To live with an open neck among people.

... Here is a parable about the East

The old elder told me.
