Ich hab einige Lieder über Liebe geschrieben

Aber außer den Liedern ist nichts übrig geblieben

Ich hab meine Gefühle nach außen getragen

Mich letztendlich allein damit herumgeschlagen

Es ist gar nichts für immer

Es ist gar nichts konstant

Außer den Liedern über Liebe

Und den Sprüchen an der Wand

Alles ist eitel

Solang die Welt sich dreht

Außer der ewigen Sehnsucht

Nach etwas, das nicht vergeht

Ich hab Menschen getroffen

Und aus den Augen verloren

«Ich bin nie wieder besoffen.»

Hab ich mir morgens geschworen

Ich habe Bücher gelesen

Und weiß nicht, was darin steht

Ich hab nur eines gelernt:

Dass alles vergeht

Wenn auch ich einmal fort bin

Wünsch ich mir, dass ihr an mich denkt

Und dass in einem alten Laden

Noch ein Poster von mir hängt

Sollte das nicht der Fall sein

Gibt es noch immer die Musik

Damit hat meine größte Liebe

Die Vergänglichkeit besiegt

I wrote some songs about love

And that in an old shop

Another poster of mine is hanging

Shouldn't that be the case

Does the music still exist?

So has my greatest love
