Ночью собаки лают

Им страшно, они знают,

Что ночь больше,

Что ночь старше

Им очень страшно.

Лают, собаки лают

На вечность, на тайну.

Сбиваются в стаи,

И воют, и лают

А что им делать одиноким,

В собачьем теле, с душою волка,

А что им делать больным и слабым?

Поджать хвосты и лаять.

А что нам делать одиноким,

Со страхом смерти, с ленивым Богом,

А что нам делать со всей Вселенной,

Нас породившей, но нам враждебной?

Dogs bark at night

They are scared, they know

That the night is more

That the night is older

They are very scared.

Barking, dogs barking

For eternity, for a secret.

They huddle in flocks

And howl and bark

And what do they do when they're lonely

In a dog's body, with a wolf's soul,

And what should they do to the sick and weak?

Curl your tails and bark.

What can we do when we're alone

With fear of death, with a lazy God,

And what should we do with the whole Universe,

Who gave birth to us, but is hostile to us?
