Wake up, by this mic

Come to visit for a minute

I heard you’ve been admitted 'cause your liver’s gonna give in

I told you if you didn’t quit this shit you’re gonna kick it

And if it wasn’t drugs then the drinking would’ve did it

Still I ain’t here to lecture you

I know I’ve done enough of that

I’m here to say I love you still

I’m hoping that you’ll love me back

All that stuff at pointing tracks

It’s because I’ve just been mad

The way you didn’t raise me man

You ain’t been good enough a dad

I don’t hate you but it’s just the facts

I shouldn’t have to be ashamed of you, but I am

It’s easier to blame when you’re in pain

But I don’t understand why you having a baby

Didn’t make you try to become a man

It wouldn’t be the same if you were taking up another path

What would it take for you to change?

I always wondered that

Now I see you as your life

You never stood a chance

But bringing up the past ain’t gonna get my mother back

As you laying in your hospital bed

Going over what the doctor has said

You offered your apologies and

I said don’t worry and to follow you said:

«I didn’t want you to see me like this

I never knew this town was so small

Back when I didn’t even exist

I thought you weren’t around here no more»

The day I met my son it really sunk in

I ask myself «How come you didn’t love me like I love him?»

Did you not get the same feeling inside

From my eyes is a his the minute I look in

Similar footprints and never leaving his life

Like the ones left in mind from the figure I put my trust in

Tell me why you’d let the drugs win?

Wasn’t there something that said that I was a good thing?

I think it’s time you started telling me the truth

About what happened in the past that was so terrible to you

To leave a family behind

And live a life that was heroin infueled
