Что вас гонит из города в город, кто зовёт вас в небесную даль?

Певчие птицы зёрна с ладоней с детства, увы, не приучены брать.

Вьюга за окнами, дождь — не преграда, есть в крыльях сила, опять не уснуть.

Вас не влечёт ни хвала, ни награда, певчие птицы, что гонит вас в путь?

В чердачной пыли заброшенных замков уютней, чем в золоте клеточных спиц.

И если пространства, то не меньше, чем небо, и если свободы, то не на двоих.

Что вас гонит из города в город: восторженность яркой, но всё же толпы,

Народы, наряды, обычаи, говор, непостоянство и просто коты?

Так улетайте ж в ночное созвучие окон зашторенных и фонарей,

В роскошь безлюдных и вымытых улиц, в строгость каналов и площадей.

Певчие птицы, так радостно-больно мне наблюдать ваш свободный полёт.

Но этот полёт так похож на скитание…

От «верю» к «не верю», от «верю» к «не верю» и наоборот.

Что вас гонит, что…

What drives you from city to city, who calls you to the heavenly distance?

Songbirds of grain from the palms from childhood, alas, are not accustomed to take.

In the luxury of deserted and washed streets, in the severity of canals and squares.

Songbirds, it is so joyful and painful for me to watch your free flight.

But this flight is so similar to wandering...
