Город вмерз вне пространства и времени

Льдом коварным над мутными топями.

Ждут добычи его демоны —

Роятся стаями в подворотнях.

Все удушливей запах падали,

Страх стучит у виска молотом.

Даже самые дерзкие ангелы

Не залетят сюда — так здесь холодно…

И свет не вернуть,

И небо, день за днем,

Бубонною чумой сжирает мрак!

Когда ты вышел в путь

И пренебрег огнем —

Ты знал, что будет так!

Стынут улицы, мглою устелены.

Ледяная ночь — смерти темный трон.

Кости брошены, ставки сделаны —

Здесь теперь твой дом, твой последний дом!

Тщетно в замкнутом круге мечешься —

Хочешь слезы лей, хочешь в крик кричи!

Кто не греется пламенем вечности —

Замерзает от безысходности.

И свет не вернуть,

И небо, день за днем,
