Su due mari e un pensiero, vola lento questo veliero

Su un’isola non più lontana di una malattia

Mi aspettano senza fretta, come in un gioco

Un cane, un piatto sicuro e una donna di fuoco

Ma il veliero, sempre più lento

Si ferma, senza coraggio e senza vento

E il mare diventa di sasso

Mentre il cane abbaia, il piatto si fredda

La donna sul porto, nervosa, su e giù va a spasso

Tutta la notte, un altro giorno su ‘sto legno

Tra una puzza di piedi, come un idiota a guardarmi intorno

Mentre sull’isola il piatto si è vuotato

La donna seccata ormai mi ha dimenticato

Il cane, dopo tre giorni di attesa faticosa

Si è appena addormentato

Poi una notte diversa delle altre

Una notte davvero mette a posto tutto, anche il veliero

Che ricomincia a navigare

Cercherò un piatto caldo, qualcosa da mangiare

Un’altra donna si può sempre trovare

Mentre scendo dalla nave, il cane si è svegliato

Mi viene incontro e ricomincia ad abbaiare…

Over two seas and a thought, this sailing ship flies slowly

On an island no farther than a disease

They wait for me without haste, like in a game

A dog, a safe dish and a woman of fire

She comes towards me and starts barking again ...
