Жил простой моряк когда-то, дружный с ветром и волной.

Он седой залив Кронштадта называл землей родной.

Он на берег и для милой не спускался ни на шаг —

Неизвестный по фамилии дальних плаваний моряк.

Но однажды в день туманный уходили моряки

В край, где нет ни океана, ни пролива, ни реки.

Вместе с ними в тучах пыли шёл и он сквозь дым и мрак —

Шёл тайгой непроходимой, шёл дорогою степной.

Проплывали тучи дыма перед ним крутой волной.

Над землею, словно крылья, подымал он красный флаг —

За родную землю эту всех солдат и моряков

Он, пройдя в боях по свету, пал вдали от берегов.

Но бессмертен в вечной были о героях и боях —

There once lived a simple sailor, friendly with the wind and the wave.
