Мне снился сон, что сожжен Вечный Город — Рим

Враг осадил, покорил и разграбил Град Мечты,

Как мне забыть, Может быть это — знак беды

Все знают Рим, но другим он — основа всех основ,

Мощь его стен, твердь арен поражает ум

Ширь площадей, тень аллей восхищает красотой.

Во сне я видел над городом дым,

Может быть Рим

проклят богами,

Во сне я видел как толпы врагов

В свете костров

грабили храмы.

Во сне я видел восторг в их глазах,

А на мечах

кровь италийцев.

Во сне я ждал что расплата грядет,

Но мой народ

встал на колени.

Во сне когда-то незыблемый Рим

Пал под одним

мощным ударом.

Во сне я видел как вождь дикарей

Наших детей

сделал рабами.

Во сне я тенью бродил среди них,

Город затих,

скованный страхом.

Во сне я понял, что нечего ждать

Нужно бежать,

Рим уничтожен…

Кровь на груди… О. прости ты меня, мой Бог!

Ты дал мне знак, будто враг разорит нетленный Рим

Рим разорен и сожжен, Вечный Город пал

Три долгих дня шла резня и бросали мертвых в Тибр

Все позади… О, прости ты меня, народ мой

Я не сказал, я не знал, что мой сон был вещим сном.

I had a dream that the Eternal City, Rome, was burned

The enemy besieged, conquered and plundered the City of Dreams,

How can I forget, maybe this is a sign of trouble

Everyone knows Rome, but to others it is the basis of all foundations,

The power of its walls, the firmament of the arenas amazes the mind

The breadth of the squares, the shadow of the alleys delight with beauty.

In a dream I saw smoke over the city,

cursed by the gods

In a dream I saw how crowds of enemies

In the light of bonfires

temples were robbed.

In a dream I saw delight in their eyes,

And on swords

Italian blood.

In a dream, I was waiting for retribution to come,

But my people

got on his knees.

In a dream, once unshakable Rome

Fell under one

powerful blow.

In a dream I saw how the leader of the savages

Our children

made slaves.

In a dream I wandered like a shadow among them,

The city is quiet

bound by fear.

In a dream, I realized that there was nothing to wait

Gotta run

Rome is destroyed...

Blood on the chest... Oh. forgive me, my God!

You gave me a sign that the enemy will destroy imperishable Rome

Rome ravaged and burned, the Eternal City fell

For three long days there was a massacre and the dead were thrown into the Tiber

Everything is behind... Oh, forgive me, my people

I didn't say, I didn't know that my dream was a prophetic dream.
