When I Leave This Town - Language Arts

I started a new book

And then I moved house

Picked a new city

Held my mouth

I didn’t say much

Nothing’s left to be told

After that night

The veins in my temples exploded

I took flight

Many times before

My head it felt like cracking

My heart became a door

I think I served a purpose

But no one will ever know

I’ll think of these chapters fondly

And I’ll go where I will grow

But who is going to love you

When I’m no longer around?

And what will become of me

When I leave this town?

I hear a distant whistling

Like it is calling me home

Sleep sweet to loons calling

In this palindrome

‘Cause every time I sleep

I see it, it is not really there

Every time I sing

I get really scared

Feeling tired

From this bed in the sky

Flounder in wonder

Like I am a child

A new beginning

Become a new place

With a new place full of stuff

Becomes a new face

Then landing on arms of friends

My armor fell too

And it landed down there

With the fireworks crew

Becoming full blown motion

With many mixed matches

Simplicity is a state of mind

That fumigates and ashes

And the sound of it all

As it sets fire

It blasts out the stories

As my eyes tire

It forms and makes shapes

Of sailing away words and vowels

And then I take flight all over

Like a flock of midnight owls
