Doch es ist ein’s darüber hinwegzuseh’n

Wenn man sich Tag für Tag nur noch im Kreise dreht

Sich die Wahrheit einfach nicht eingesteht

Liebe wohnt in einem Kartenhaus

Und aus uns’rem hat mich die Herzdame verjagt

Der Fisch schwimmt nun wieder aufs Meer hinaus

Nicht nur du, nicht nur ich — wir hab’n beide versagt

Das war dein letzter Zug auf dem Schachbrett meines Lebens

Der König schlägt die Dame, du bist schachmatt
