Прошедший день затих и опустел,

Готовясь к плену молчаливой ночи,

Он гаснет эхом недопетых строчек

Вечерних песен между темных стен.

Он начинался, чтоб зажечь сердца

Своим сияньем вдохновенно зыбким,

И мир встречал его открытою улыбкой

К восходу солнца обращенного лица.

Сквозь облака, летя с небес к земле,

Свою судьбу ее судьбе вверяя,

То находя, то что-то вдруг теряя,

Он прорывался в предрассветной мгле.

Он жил и пел бездумно и всерьез,

Перемежая холод с пылким зноем,

Святую осень с грешною весною,

Смешное небо с небом, полным слез.

Но видя, что года берут права,

Стал одного бояться — ночи темной —

И в сумерках сомнений неуемных

Закатных песен высветил слова.

Прошедший день — вечерняя пора,

Но тот закат мне сердце не тревожит —

Не ночь конец тревогам всем положит,

А света непрерывная игра.

Стою в раздумье над прошедшим днем,

Как в ожиданье радости неспетой,

Как будто луч грядущего рассвета

Меня коснулся ласковым огнем

The day that passed was quiet and empty,

Preparing for the captivity of the silent night,

It goes out with the echo of unfinished lines

Evening songs between dark walls.

It started to set hearts on fire

With its radiance inspired by unsteady,

And the world met him with an open smile

To the rising of the sun turned face.

Through the clouds, flying from heaven to earth,

Entrusting your fate to her fate,

Now finding, then suddenly losing something,

He broke through in the predawn darkness.

He lived and sang thoughtlessly and seriously,

Alternating cold with ardent heat,

Holy autumn with sinful spring,

Funny sky with a sky full of tears.

But seeing that the years take rights,

Became afraid of one thing - the dark night -

And in the twilight of indefatigable doubts

Sunset songs highlighted the words.

The past day is the evening time,

But that sunset does not disturb my heart -

Not the night will put an end to everyone's worries,

And the world is a continuous play.

I stand in thought over the past day,

As in anticipation of unsung joy,

As if the ray of the coming dawn

I was touched by tender fire
