Er zog einen Stuhl ran

und fing ein Gespräch an undsetzte sich ganz einfach her

als wenn im Lokal rings umher

kein Platz mehr wär

nur hier bei mir

am Finger die Stelle

die war etwas heller

wo er sonst den Ehering trug

er hielt sich für unheimlich klug

und hat geglaubt

daß ich ihn nicht durchschau.

Er wollt mir gefallen

und war wie fast alle.

Nicht fähig für ein echtes Gefühl

er trank und er trank viel

zuviel

und mit der Zeit tat er mir leid

doch Mitleid und Liebe sind leider verschieden

und irgendwann hab ich gesagt

zuhaus sitzt die Frau

die dich mag

Und irgendwann ging er mit schwankenden Schritten

und sah dabei unglücklich aus.

Er sagte

ich hab kein Zuhaus

denn meine Frau lief gestern fort

Weil dieses Leben so schwer ist

die Wohnung so leer ist

mein einziger Trost

Ich sagte: Trink rasch aus

und dann geh schnell nach Haus

du kannst zwar wunderschön lügen

doch um mich rumzukriegen

da lügst du — ein bißchen zu gut.

He pulled up a chair

and started a conversation and just sat down

as if in the pub all around

there would be no more space

that I can't see through him.

and was like almost everyone.

Not capable of real feeling

he drank and he drank a lot

too much of

and over time I felt sorry for him

but pity and love are unfortunately different

and at some point i said

the woman is sitting at home

who likes you

and you go to her

then bring her flowers.

And at some point he walked with unsteady steps

and looked unhappy.

He said

i have no home

because my wife ran away yesterday

Because this life is so hard

the apartment is so empty

my only consolation

that is you.

I said drink up quickly

and then go home quickly

you can lie beautifully

but to get me around

there you lie — a little too well.
