Vom Rhein ein Brummen, stur und heiser

Ein Frachtschiff, das vorüberzieht

Und immer leiser, immer leiser

Bis es fast den Ohrn entflieht

Doch da von oben, grad vom Himmel

Raubt mir ein andrer Ton die Ruh

Im Mond ein Streifen, grau wie Schimmel

Die Augen zu, die Augen zu

Ach, ich sehne mich nach Stille

Da, wo’s niemals stille wird

Ein Auto fährt, es zirpt ne Grille

Nebenan wird kopuliert

In den Pappeln sitzen Raben

Krächzen was vom Totenreich

Der unter mir muß Durchfall haben

Oder Gäste, beides gleich

Das Leben ist ein lautes Treiben

Niemand hilft dir aus der Not

Das Brummen wird wohl immer bleiben

Ruhe bringt dir erst der Tod
