Järvenjää jäätynyt talvipakkasessa

Varpunen pienoinen syönyt kesäeinehen

Järven aalto jäätynyt talvi pakkasessa

Pienen talon rappusilla oli tyttö kulta

Tule varpu riemulla ota siemen multa

Joulu on koditon varpuseeni onneton

Tule tänne riemulla ota siemen multa

Tytön luo nyt riemuiten lensi varpu kulta

Kiiltollisna siemenen otan kyllä sulta

Palkita jumalatahtoo kerran sinua

Snow has already covered the flowers in the valley

Lake ice frozen in winter frost

A small sparrow eating a summer meal

Lake wave frozen in winter frost

On the stairs of the small house was a girl with gold

Come sparrow with joy take the seed mold

Christmas is a homeless sparrow unhappy

Come here with joy, take the seed from the mold

The girl now happily flew a sparrow of gold

As a glossy seed, I do take it
