Immaginando che sia la mia mamma quella donna

che sta chiedendo cibo ed una casa dove stare

immaginando che i suoi figli sono i miei fratelli

sto pensando, smarrito,

che cosa potrei fare

Immagino mio padre che si arrampica sul tetto

perché non vuole

perdere lavoro e dignità

però ci resta troppo tempo, e noi sempre là sotto

gli mando un bacio adesso,

vedrai che servirà.

Serve immaginare per comprendere

però senza nessuna velleità

c'è solo della gente da difendere

è tutto qua!

Immagino che sia mio figlio adesso quel ragazzo

che ride, piange e grida in faccia a tutta la città

è meglio non guardarlo in faccia

se no sarà una rogna

sto pensando a quel santo che se ne occuperà

Immaginandomi fra questa gente abbandonata

che a volte non ha niente, neanche un posto dove stare

ricordo un canto

che diceva «Gli altri siamo noi»

e mi dispiace davvero

che adesso mi veda… rubare.

Serve immaginare per comprendere

però senza nessuna velleità

c'è solo della gente da difendere
