Breathe in, breathe out

We sing and we shout

We are people, simple people

We live and we die

We laugh, we cry

We are people, simple people

They say there’s no reason to be afraid

Living and dying’s in our DNA

From conception our direction is an empty grave

And the motto that we follow is to hollow out our conscious

So responsible decisions aren’t the ones we make

Don’t want people to tell us when

It seems our life story needs a little embellishing

You come across boring so you make your story something people want around

But living on the edge means you’re a step away from falling down

Happiness is relative, happiness ain’t settling

Baggage getting in the way

Someone had to take these things

The fact is the past is distracting the masses

With sadness masking the path, this is tragic

Is what you’re doing right now helping your situation?

Or is you’re behavior the anchor to your elevation?

We want to be wanted, we want to be something

The need to be someone is coming when we’re feeling like nothing

So breathe in

I find myself always doing a little something extra

Tryna make the people that surround me laugh

‘Cause if I do, chances are they’ll think I’m worth something

But the real me is slipping to the me of the past

Wanting affirmation, lacking confidence

Compliments were motivation

Thank God for honest friends

Who will call you on your bluffs, tough love says you’re acting different

I’m down to change, but on some realness, I lack commitment

Back when I was a kid I was ignorant to the news

That real life isn’t always pop and sometimes it’s the blues

Growing up will teach you things they don’t teach you in school

And you can know a lot of things and can still be a fool

I spent time and spent money, only one of them can be replaced

Both can cost you something, both can go to waste

It’s best when we invest in progression

North, not south when suggestin' direction

Hear no, see no, speak no evil

Different dreams for different people

Nothing wrong with the simple life
