ik heb gewacht

tot het echt niet langer kon

tot de zon alweer te hoog stond

ik bedacht

dat jij meer hebt om te blijven

en dat ik me laat verdrijven

eenzaam als een wolf

heb ik gewacht

langer dan een mens verdragen kan

ik breng me zelf

naar de randen van het land

waar de oceaan begint

naar het water en het zand

daar leg ik me neer

in het hart van de woestijn

het kan nergens warmer zijn

en in de nacht
