Ein Blatt im Wind

Ein leises Knistern

Ein stummer Schrei

Ein Schaudern in der Luft

Ein Sturm kommt herbei

Der Bäume Wipfel biegen sich

Fast wie aus Ehrfurcht

Wissend, harrend, ewiglich

Dem Kommenden gewahr

Durch die Blätter rauscht der Wind:

Atem der Natur!

Niemals wütend und doch blind

Für die Verheerung, die er bringt!

Das Land in Aufruhr

Wogend, wehend, tanzesgleich

Webt der Herbst sein Netz aus

Blättern und Geäst

Und dabei auf weiter Flur

Er Spuren hinterlässt

Die in uns’rem Geiste sind

Wie Gedanken alter Zeit

Flüchtige Erinnerungen

Es gibt für sie keinen Halt!

A leaf in the wind

A faint crackle

A silent scream

A shudder in the air

A storm is coming

The tops of the trees bend

Almost out of reverence

Knowing, waiting, forever

aware of what is to come

The wind rustles through the leaves:

breath of nature!

Never angry and yet blind

For the devastation he brings!

The country in turmoil

Heaving, waving, dance-like

Autumn weaves its net

leaves and branches

And at the same time on the floor

He leaves traces

that are in our spirit

Like old thoughts

fleeting memories

There is no stopping them!
