Frühling kam auf den silbernen Schwingen der Nacht,

Frühling war in den Weiden am Ufer erwacht,

Und sie neigten die Zweige tief

auf den See der ruhig schlief —

Weißt Du noch, wie uns oft erst

die Dämm'rung des Morgens heimwärts rief?

Auf den Feldern am See war der Sommer erblüht,

Und die Lerchen verkündeten jubelnd sein Lied,

Doch wir lauschten den Sommer

dann nur der eig’nen Herzen Klang —

Weißt Du noch, wie sich über uns

leuchtend das Blau des Mittags schwang?

Längst schon zogen die Schwalben hinaus, über's Meer,

Fand der Herbst ihre Nester verlassen und leer,

Und am See wartet tief verschneit

nur auf mich die Einsamkeit —

Weißt Du noch, all' die Träume,

die Pläne, der kurze Weg zu zweit?

immer kehrten die Schwalben zurück, zur Frühlingszeit…
