Mi affascina il mistero delle vite

Che si dipanano lungo la scacchiera

Di giorni e strade, foto scolorite

Memoria di vent’anni di una sera

Mi coinvolge l’eterno gocciolare

Del tempo sopra il viso di un passante

E il chiedermi se nei suoi tratti appare

L’insulto di una morte o di un amante

Il mondo visto con gli occhi asfaltati

Rincorrendo il balletto delle ore

Noi che sappiamo dove siamo nati

Ma non sapremo mai dove si muore

Mi piace rovistare nei ricordi

Di altre persone, inverni o primavere

Per perdere o trovare dei raccordi

Nell’apparente caos di un rigattiere:

Quadri per cui qualcuno è stato in posa

Un canocchiale che ha guardato un punto

Un mappamondo, due bijou, una rosa

Ciarpame un tempo bello e ora consunto

Oggetti che qualcuno ha forse amato

Ora giaccion lì, senza padrone

Senza funzione, senza storia o stato

Nell’intreccio di caso o di ragione

E la mia vita cade in altre vite

Ed io mi sento solamente un punto

Lungo la retta lucida è finito

Di un meccanismo immobile e presunto

Tu sei quelli che son venuti prima

Che in parte hai conosciuto, e quelli dopo

Che non conoscerai, come una rima

Vibrante e bella, però senza scopo

Non saprai e non sai, questo dolore

Che vagli fra le maglie di un tuo cribro

Svanisce un po' nel contemplare un fiore

Si scorda fra le pagine di un libro

Perchè non si fa a meno di altre vite

Anche rubate a pagine che sfogli

Oziosamente e ambiguo le hai assorbite

Da fantasmi inventati che tu spogli

Rivestendoti in loro piano piano

Come se ti scoprissi in uno specchio

L’uomo a dublino, o l’ultimo mohicano,

Chi ai 25 si sentiva vecchio

Perchè la nostra è sufficiente appena

Ne mescoliamo inconsciamente il senso

Siamo gli attori ingenui su una scena

Di un palcoscenico misterioso…

I am fascinated by the mystery of lives

That unfold along the chessboard

Of days and streets, faded photos

A globe, two jewelry, a rose

Junk once beautiful and now worn

Objects that someone has perhaps loved

Now he lies there, without a master

Without function, without history or status

In the intertwining of chance or reason

And my life falls into other lives

And I only feel a point

Along the shiny line it is finished

Of an immobile and presumed mechanism

You are the ones who came first

Which you have known in part, and those after

That you will not know, like a rhyme

Vibrant and beautiful, but without purpose

You will not know and you do not know this pain
