Es kommt durch die Dielenbretter, durch den Spalt unter der Tür

Durch den Mauerriss, durch jeden Zwischenraum

Es kommt durch die Heizungsrohre, es kommt durchs Fenster zum Hof

Und es sieht aus wie ein guter alter Traum

Und es gurgelt aus dem Abfluss

Und es raunt im Tiefkühlfach

Und es wispert hinterm Kaktus

Und ein Vogel pfeift’s vom Dach

Und dann tritt das Gerücht furchtlos hinter der Schrankwand hervor

Verdichtet sich zur Gewissheit und es flüstert mit im Chor:

«Das oberste Menschenverstandskommando gibt bekannt:

Vernunft breitet sich aus über die Bundesrepublik Deutschland!»

Ich lauf' runter auf die Straße, auch der Hauswart weiss es schon

Sprüht es auf die Wand und gibt Vernunftalarm

Es kommt zu rührenden Szenen tumultart’ger Harmonie

Und Wildfremde fall’n sich schluchzend in den Arm

Und da kommt es auch im Fernsehn

Und jetzt steht’s im Extrablatt:

Spontanes Einander-gern-Sehn

Erfasst schon die ganze Stadt

Und ein Marsch des guten Willens hat sich auf den Weg gemacht

Aus Büros, Fabriken, Schulen, Häusern, aus dem U-Bahn-Schacht

Unaufhaltsam wie ein Beben, mächtig wie ein Flächenbrand:

Vernunft breitet sich aus über die Bundesrepublik Deutschland!

Und schon werden über Akte der Vernunft Meldungen laut

Da!

Die ersten sinnvollen Dinge geschehn:

Es treten schon hier und da vermehrt Politiker zurück

Ohne Leugnen, ohne Sichwinden und Dreh’n

Vorbei sind die hohlen Sprüche

Korruption und Kungelei

Jetzt gibt’s Ehrlichkeitsausbrüche

Alle, alle sind dabei:

Hehler, Steuerhinterzieher, Geldwäscher und Dunkelmann

Treten in Bahamas und in Luxemburg den Heimweg an

Und eil’n zum Finanzamt mit dem Schwarzgeldkoffer in der Hand!

Vernunft breitet sich aus über die Bundesrepublik Deutschland!

Und die Wurzeln alten Übels werden endlich aufgedeckt

Und die Schuldigen geächtet und gebannt

Und ein Gangster wird ein Gangster und ein Schuft wird jetzt ein Schuft

Und ein Rüstungsfabrikant Mörder genannt

Und die schlechten Selbstgerechten

Brandstifter und Biedermann

Und die ganzen rechten Schlechten

Zeigen sich von selber an

Und die alten und die neuen Ewiggestrigen im Land

Haben sich selbst abgeschoben, die Staatsbürgerschaft aberkannt

Mancher kommt geläutert wieder, doch diesmal als Asylant

Vernunft breitet sich aus über die Bundesrepublik Deutschland!

Kriegstreiber und Kirchenfürsten haben endlich ausgespielt

Die Verdummungsindustrien geh’n bankrott

Ab jetzt denkt man wieder selber, wir sind endlich, endlich frei

Dogmen und Gegängel landen auf dem Schrott

Schluss mit Häme und Gehetze

Gepetze und Korruption

Mit Vertuschung und Geschwätze

Und Verarschung der Nation

Die gemarterte Kultur kommt langsam wieder auf den Damm:

Anstatt Fernsehwerbung läuft auch ab sofort wieder Programm

Und der Mutantenstadl wird auf 1 Uhr nachts verbannt

Vernunft breitet sich aus über die Bundesrepublik Deutschland!

Jetzt um alles in der Welt keine Bewegung, keinen Ton

Jetzt nicht aufwachen, ganz stillhalten, nicht rühr'n

Nur nichts hören, nur nichts sehen, nur nichts merken und wenn doch:

Dann nur nicht verzweifeln, nicht kapitulier’n!

Mit dem schönen Traum abtauchen

In die rauhe Wirklichkeit

Denn ich werd' ihn dringend brauchen

In dieser verbohrten Zeit

Ja, der Hauswart kratzt mit Bürste, Eifer, Fleiß und Terpentin

Fluchend an der Hauswand an der kühnsten aller Utopien

Nur mein Pulsschlag pocht noch immer das Graffiti, das da stand:

It comes through the heating pipes, it comes through the window to the courtyard

And it looks like a good old dream

And it gurgles out of the drain

Now there are outbursts of honesty

Fences, tax evaders, money launderers and dark men

Head home in Bahamas and Luxembourg

And rush to the tax office with the black money case in hand!

And the roots of old evil are finally being uncovered

And the guilty outlawed and banned

And a gangster becomes a gangster and a scoundrel now becomes a scoundrel

And an armaments manufacturer called a murderer

And the bad self righteous

Arsonist and Biedermann

And all the right bad ones

Show themselves

And the old and the new die-hards in the land

Deported themselves, stripped of citizenship

Some come back purified, but this time as asylum seekers

Warmongers and church princes have finally played out

The dumbing down industries go bankrupt

From now on you think for yourself again, we are finally, finally free

Dogma and gossip end up on the scrap heap

No more malice and rush

gossip and corruption

With cover-ups and gossip

And kidding the nation

The martyred culture is slowly getting back on the dam:

Instead of TV advertising, the program will be running again immediately
