Sufjan Stevens is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in 1975. His debut album, A Sun Came, was released in 1999 under the label Asthmatic Kitty, which he co-founded with his stepfather. He gained widespread recognition with the album Illinois, which reached the top spot on the Billboard "Top Heatseekers" chart.
