Stratovarius is a Finnish English-language power metal band formed in 1984 in Finland. Originally called Black Water , the band developed its signature speed metal sound with the addition of guitarist Тимо Толкки in 1985. Stratovarius became one of the pioneers of power metal, releasing landmark albums such as "Episode" and "Visions" Their hits, including "Hunting High and Low" and "Black Diamond" have become classics of the genre. The band has had a significant influence on the development of epic metal, inspiring many followers.
