Sirenia is a Norwegian gothic metal project founded in 2001 in Norway by Morten Veland after his departure from Tristania . Veland is the band's mastermind, responsible for the lyrics, music, and performing most of the instrumental parts. Sirenia compositions combine female vocals, choirs, growling vocals, and clean male vocals. The band utilizes a wide range of instruments, including guitars (bass, acoustic, electric, six-, seven-, and twelve-string), drums, synthesizer, piano, and violin. Sirenia has made a significant contribution to the development of gothic metal, creating a unique sound that combines the genre's melancholy and power.
