Сергей Васильевич Рахманинов (1873–1943) was a prominent Russian composer, pianist, and conductor born in Novgorod Governorate, Russia. A representative of the late Romantic movement, he is known for his virtuosic piano works and symphonic works. Among his best-known works are "Концерт для фортепиано №2" , "Рапсодия на тему Паганини" , and "Симфония №2" Rachmaninoff emigrated from Russia after the 1917 Revolution and continued his career in the United States and Europe.
