Rachid Taha (1958–2018) was an Algerian composer and performer known for his contributions to the rai genre and world music. Born in Algeria, he moved to France, where he began his musical career, fusing traditional Algerian influences with rock, punk, and electronica. His album "Diwân" and song "Ya Rayah" received international acclaim. Rachid Taha collaborated with artists such as Cheb Khaled and Faudel and performed at major festivals worldwide. His work had a significant impact on the popularization of North African music beyond the region.
