Melanie Thornton (Melanie Janine Thornton) was an African-American pop singer born on May 13, 1967, in the United States. Her career peaked in Germany, where she became the lead singer of the popular group La Bouche , known for 1990s hits such as "Be My Lover" "Sweet Dreams" and "Fallin' In Love" After leaving the group, she launched a successful solo career, releasing the songs "Love How You Love Me" "Wonderful Dream" and "Memories" Her life was tragically cut short on November 24, 2001, in a plane crash in Switzerland. Melanie Thornton left a significant mark on 1990s pop music, both as a member of the group and as a solo artist.
