
Mark Murphy was an American jazz singer born in 1932. He lived in New York, Los Angeles, London, and San Francisco. During his career Mark Murphy recorded 51 albums and became known for his innovative vocal improvisations. He won the Down Beat magazine Jazz Poll four times (1996, 1997, 2000, 2001) and was nominated for a Грэмми Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance five times. His achievements include writing the lyrics to the jazz compositions "Stolen Moments" and "Red Clay." Mark Murphy left a significant mark on traditional jazz.
