
Jacek Kaczmarski was a Polish singer-songwriter, poet, and novelist, born on March 22, 1957. His work is associated with the genre of bard song and the spirit of the first Solidarity movement. During martial law from 1981 to 1983, his lyrics, circulated in unofficial publications, became the voice of the anti-communist opposition. Kaczmarski wrote numerous songs that became symbols of the struggle for freedom, including "Mury" and "Obława." His work had a significant influence on Polish culture and political life. He died on April 10, 2004, leaving behind a rich legacy of original songs.
