Karel Svoboda (born December 19, 1938) was a Czechoslovakian and Czech composer. He worked in the pop and soundtrack genres. Svoboda became known for composing music for numerous films and television productions, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s. He was also the artistic director of the instrumental electronic music ensemble "Elektrovox" . His most famous works include film and television scores that have become classics in Czechoslovakia and beyond. His contribution to the development of Czech pop music and soundtracks remains significant. Karel Svoboda died on January 28, 2007.
