Jon Hendricks , born in 1921 in Ohio, USA, was a prominent jazz vocalist known as one of the founders of the vocal bebop genre. His career began in the 1950s when he became part of the trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross , which popularized the technique of vocalise—adding lyrics to instrumental jazz compositions. Among their most famous works is the album "Sing a Song of Basie" Hendricks also collaborated with legends such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington . His contributions to jazz music made him an icon of the genre, and his work continues to inspire musicians worldwide.
