
John Frusciante (born March 5, 1970) is an American musician, guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers , with whom he recorded seven albums, including the seminal "Blood Sugar Sex Magik" and "Californication" In addition to his work with the band, Frusciante has an active solo career, releasing 11 albums under his own name and four albums under the moniker Trickfinger . He also participated in the project Ataxia with Joe Lally and Josh Klinghoffer. His solo work combines elements of experimental rock, ambient, new wave, and electronica. In 2010, he was named the greatest guitarist of the 30th year by BBC . Frusciante's contribution to music has made him a cult figure in indie rock.
