João Gilberto (1931–2019) was a Brazilian guitarist, singer, and composer, widely recognized as one of the founders of the bossa nova genre. Born in Brazil, he became a key figure in the country's popular music, combining elements of samba and jazz. His album "Chega de Saudade" (1959) is considered the starting point of bossa nova, and the song of the same name has become a classic of the genre. João Gilberto collaborated with artists such as Stan Getz , releasing the legendary album "Getz/Gilberto" which included the hit "The Girl from Ipanema" His contributions to music had a profound influence on the development of the Brazilian and international music scene.
