Harold Budd (1936–2020) was an American composer and poet born in Los Angeles and raised in the Mojave Desert. Known for his contributions to minimalist and avant-garde music, he gained prominence in Southern California's experimental music scene in the late 1960s. Collaborating with artists like Brian Eno and Robin Guthrie, Budd developed his signature "soft pedal" piano technique, characterized by slow tempos and sustained notes. His notable works include albums such as "The Pearl" and "Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror". Harold Budd left a lasting impact on ambient and electronic music, influencing generations of musicians.
