Gary Numan (born Гэри Энтони Джеймс Уэбб ) is a British rock musician, singer, and songwriter, born March 8, 1958, in the United Kingdom. One of the leading performers of the British new wave, he is considered a pioneer of commercial electronic music. His style, combining elements of krautrock, punk, and glam, as well as dark lyrics and heavy use of synthesizers, influenced the development of gothic rock, darkwave, and industrial music. Among his best-known compositions are "Cars" and "Are 'Friends' Electric?" Gary Numan work is influenced by bands such as Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson , who have also covered his songs.
