Florence Welch (full name: Флоренс Леонтин Мэри Уэлч ) is an English singer and songwriter born in 1986. She is the vocalist and leader of the indie rock band Florence and the Machine , which is often perceived as her stage name. The band's debut album, Lungs , released in January 2010, reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and won the Brit Award Award for Best British Album. Their second album, Ceremonials , reached number one in the UK and US in 2011. Florence Welch has made a significant contribution to the development of indie rock, combining powerful vocals with emotional lyrics.
