Эпидемия is a Russian power metal band founded in 1995 by guitarist Юрием Мелисовым . The band specializes in epic metal and became known for a series of metal operas, beginning in 2004 with «Эльфийская рукопись» which pioneered a unique high fantasy universe. Эпидемия is a laureate of the 16th annual national music award «Чартова дюжина» in the "Group" category. Their work has had a significant influence on the development of the epic metal genre in Russia.
